Andover murder trial under way
4:21pm Wednesday 10th March 2010
THE death of 29-year-old Andover man Dean Sinclair followed a night out on the town in Andover last July.
It ended with him being stabbed three times by his sister in the Acre Court home the pair shared, a jury at Winchester Crown Court heard.
Jessica Louise Young, aged 30, who is standing trial for murder, denies the charge.
Nigel Lickley, QC, prosecuting, said: “He died from a stab wound inflicted by the defendant at her home on 14/15 July.
“There were three wounds, two were deep penetrating wounds, the other was not life threatening.
“All were caused by a large kitchen knife, there is no dispute about that.”
The fatal wound went through the man’s back to the right of the spine, through the right lung and caused a two centimetre piercing of the aorta – the important artery that carries oxygenated blood from the heart.
Mr Lickley said the blow from the 17.5cm blade was ‘catastrophic’ and death would have followed within minutes.
Toxicology tests on Mr Sinclair revealed that he his blood contained 234 mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood – almost three times the legal limit for driving.
The case continues.
