'Gritzilla' ready for winter blast

RAILWAYS have named trains for generations but now local councils are getting in on the act by naming their gritting and snow-clearing lorries.
Wiltshire Council launched a competition across the county for schools to name their local lorry and one of the choices submitted by Clarendon Junior School in Tidworth was judged a winner in the brainstorming contest.
Clarendon pupil James Byrne, aged 11, came up with the name ‘Gritzilla’ for the vehicle and had the pleasure of seeing his idea come into effect when the lorry turned up at school for the naming, accompanied by local councillors Chris Williams and Mark Connolly.
The word is imprinted on the cab of the lorry in large, snow-capped, capital letters.
