Riders ready to help heroes

4:00pm Sunday 29th January 2012

A TOTAL of 500 Help for Heroes supporters will take to their bikes for a one-day cycling challenge on Sunday, 15 April, with the aim of raising money for the charity’s local Recovery Centre in Tidworth.

Bike ride challenges are Help for Heroes’ signature events and the platform from which the charity sprang into life.

In Olympics year, and with the support of potential Olympian and BBC Sports Personality of the Year Mark Cavendish, the charity aims to get the whole country cycling in support of our wounded.

The Rides to Recovery Series will take place on four Sundays in 2012, each based at one of the new Personnel Recovery Centres (PRCs) which provide wounded servicemen and women with a supportive, yet familiar military environment, in which to recover once they have left Headley Court.

The Ride to Recovery Tidworth will help fund the £20m renovation and development costs and £2m per year contribution to operating costs committed by Help for Heroes to the Tedworth House PRC.
