Wheelchair basketball dreams move forward

A BOY with aspirations to make it to the top of his game in wheelchair basketball had his dream moved a little closer to reality when the Variety Club of Great Britain funded a bespoke wheelchair to play the sport in.

Tom Tobin, aged 12, and his parents Meriel and Martin Tobin, from The Drove, were delighted with the donation of the £3,500 wheelchair to further his fledgling career.

Tom, who was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, has only been playing the sport for two-years, but his abilities have raised eyebrows across the sector and he is in high demand and turns out to play for a number of different teams across the south of England including senior teams.
