Stocks make a meal of Shaftesbury
2:13am Wednesday 10th March 2010
Shaftesbury 0 Stockbridge 1.
Stockbridge came back from the long trip to Shaftesbury with three more valuable points but once again their performance against a team near the bottom of the table left much to be desired.
Too many players started the game as if they thought it was going to be a stroll in the park. With Stockbridge well below par in the first half, and the home side getting themselves offside nearly every time they attacked the first half was a drab affair and duly finished with no score. The second half saw Stockbridge come out with more purpose and after only two minutes Steve Witt went close when his well struck shot went just wide. Shaftesbury then got the ball in the back of the Stockbridge net but once again they did it from an offside position and the goal was disallowed.
Ryan Boare then came on for the out of touch Nick Coates and Stockbridge began to look more dangerous. Jack Hutchings and Dave Allen both had shots saved before, with ten minutes to go Witt scored the all important goal much to the relief of the travelling supporters.
On Tuesday Robins went down 2-1 at Warminster in a game brought forward a day. Dave Barker netted for Stocks.
Tomorrow they play host to East Cowes Vics.
