Aldermaston A 0 King’s Somborne 6.
King’s Somborne did the Andover League proud as they stormed into the North Hants Junior A Cup Final with a comprehensive 6-0 away win at AFC Aldermaston A.
After a tight opening in very windy conditions, Somborne got the breakthrough with a fine strike by Sean Gallagher. Aldermaston pressed and won several corners, but the Somborne defence held firm. Midway through the half it was 2-0 after a beautifully floated free-kick from Martin Savage found Mark Tanner who slipped all marking and slotted home. Before half-time it was three when Gallagher notched his second after being put through after great work on the left from Matt Sherfield.
The fourth came from Kevin Redman with a precise free-kick that left the keeper helpless. Manager Sam Emmett sent on substitute Barry Gerrard and he promptly hung around up front and scored the final two goals with some clinical finishing.
Tron Reserves 3 Wolversdene 2.
Tron Reserves marched into the final of the North Hants FA Junior A Cup with a narrow victory over a relentless Wolversdene.
Tron took the lead on 15 minutes when Jeff Hance took advantage of a spill by the Wolversdene keeper and played in Ryan Watts for an easy finish.
Wolversdene refused to lie down and equalised through Av Jones on 25 minutes.
Tron restored their advantage just before half-time when Dan Hargood’s corner was deflected in off a Wolversdene defender.
After the interval Tron took a 3-1 lead as Watts’ corner was headed in by Darren White from seven yards but Wolversdene once again came back and Jones netted his second in the 80th minute to set up a tense finish to the game. Tron held out until the end and will now play Kings Somborne in the final at Whitchurch United FC on Thursday March 29 (7.30pm kick-off).
