Ben Stiller banishes his demons
11:57am Thursday 18th March 2010

Ben Stiller says that playing vain and selfish catwalk model Derek Zoolander is cathartic.
The Dodgeball actor is looking forward to reprising the role for the eagerly anticipated sequel.
"We all have elements of narcissism and self-absorption, especially actors, and playing Zoolander is kind of a way to exercise those demons - Derek's choices in life are usually not politically correct and they prove he's clueless," he told Parade.com.
"I'd be embarrassed to be so incredibly self-involved and so egotistical, but it's not a problem for him and that's fun for me."
Ben has been working on Zoolander 2 for the past six or seven years.
"The biggest hurdle for me personally was that Drake Sather, who created the character, passed away. He was a good friend and the lump for me was it's hard to imagine doing it without him," he explained.
"Now my buddy, Justin Thoreau, has committed to directing and writing it. So I'm excited and I think it's going to happen. I want to be able to do something that lives up to the first one. That's the challenge."
